Are you up and at it?

I am off to U105 Radio this morning for my weekly slot - (it’s after the 11am news for anyone wanting to tune in!)

I have my ice bath and meditation done, and the gym will come later after work!

But, WHY? ?

Looking after your mental AND physical health is essential for a healthy, happy, and fulfilling life.

I am deeply committed to myself.

Afterall, I am the only one in charge of the quality of my life !

Taking small steps to improve your physical health can have a lasting impact on your overall well-being, and can help you live a longer, healthier, and more active life.

And in the short-term, I release lots of happy chemicals and have a better day ! ?

Physical health and mental health are interconnected, meaning that taking care of your physical health can have a positive impact on your mental health, and vice versa.

Some of the benefits of regular physical exercise paired with a healthy, nutritious, well-balanced diet may include;

·       Reducing the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and high cholesterol.

·       Improves physical fitness and athletic performance, increasing strength, endurance, and flexibility.

·       Boosts energy levels and reduces fatigue, improving productivity and quality of life.

·       Promotes healthy weight management, reducing the risk of obesity and related health conditions.

·       Enhances mood and reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression, promoting overall mental well-being.

Here are 3 steps to get started on the journey to a healthier you!

(If you’re already doing this, great – keep going ! I’m behind you all the way ! )

·       EXERCISE REGULARLY: Engage in physical activity on a regular basis, such as walking, running, swimming, or cycling, to improve cardiovascular health, build strength and endurance, and promote overall physical well-being. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity activity most days of the week.

·       EAT A HEALTHY DIET: Maintain a balanced and nutritious diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Avoid processed and sugary foods, and limit your intake of alcohol and caffeine. Staying properly hydrated by drinking plenty of water is also important.

·       GET ENOUGH SLEEP: Prioritize getting enough sleep each night to allow your body to repair and rejuvenate. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night, and establish a regular sleep routine, avoiding electronic devices before bed and creating a comfortable sleep environment.

We sometimes make poor health decisions when we feel there’s no other option – we’re stuck at the office and reach for a biscuit instead of a healthy snack, or decide to stay up late and only get four hours of sleep, resulting in a lack of energy for the day ahead.

Situations can vary, but you are the one true constant in your life.

No matter what you are doing, who you are with or how your current surroundings bring stress or temptation, you have the power to commit to your own healthy lifestyle.

YOUR BODY IS THE ONLY HOME YOU HAVE TO LIVE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE – NURTURE IT, HONOUR IT, LOVE & RESPECT IT.
