Our topic for last week was goal setting – so, my first question is - do you have goals you really want to achieve?

 

Of course you do ! We ALL do !

 

You may want to make progress in your career, start a business, find love or strengthen your existing relationship, exercise and lose weight or start some new healthy routines.

 

Growth is a powerful human need, and we all have desires in life.

 

So here comes the next question, what’s stopping you?

 

The plain truth. The only things truly stopping you are your own limiting beliefs.

 

Limiting beliefs are negative or self-defeating beliefs that an individual holds about themselves, others, or the world around them. These beliefs are often unconscious and can limit a person's potential and success in various areas of their life, including relationships, career, and personal development.

 

Limiting beliefs can be deeply ingrained and are often formed as a result of past experiences, societal conditioning, or negative self-talk. Overcoming our limiting beliefs is essential for personal growth and can lead to increased self-esteem, confidence, and success.

 

Here are 3 steps towards overcoming that inner voice;

 

STEP 1 - IDENTIFY THE LIMITING BELIEF

The first step in overcoming limiting beliefs is to become aware of them. Take some time to reflect on your thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors and identify the negative or self-defeating beliefs that may be holding you back.

 

STEP 2 - CHALLENGE THE BELIEF

Once you have identified your limiting belief, challenge it by asking yourself questions like "Is this belief true?" "What evidence do I have to support this belief?" "How is this belief holding me back?" and "What would be possible if I didn't believe this?" This process will help you reframe your thinking and develop more positive, empowering beliefs.

 

STEP 3 - REPLACE THE BELIEF

The final step in overcoming limiting beliefs is to replace them with more positive, empowering beliefs. Develop a new belief that aligns with your goals and values and create an affirmation or mantra that you can repeat to yourself daily. Surround yourself with positive people and resources that support your new belief and make a conscious effort to reinforce it in your thoughts and actions.

 

Remember, overcoming limiting beliefs is a process that takes time and effort, but it is essential and worth it ! By challenging and replacing your limiting beliefs, you can open up new possibilities and actually achieve your goals.

 

So now, let’s take some common limiting beliefs as an example and replace them with something more empowering.

Limiting belief: "I'm not smart enough to achieve my goals"

Empowering belief: "I can learn and improve every day. With hard work and dedication, I can achieve anything I set my mind to."

 

Limiting belief: "I'll never be able to succeed because I come from a disadvantaged background"

Empowering belief: "My background does not define me. I am capable of creating my own opportunities and achieving success despite any obstacles."

 

Limiting belief: "I'm too old to start something new"

Empowering belief: "It's never too late to pursue my passions and make meaningful changes in my life. My experience and wisdom will only enhance my journey."

 

 

By developing more positive, empowering beliefs, you can break free from the self-imposed barriers that have been holding you back and achieve your FULL potential !
